The Happy Habits Method for Students Curriculum Guide

Includes lesson guide, student workbook, plus bonus material.

For academic coaches, executive function tutors, or educational therapists, really any adult who seeks to support a teenager in their life with things like time management, procrastination, self regulation, motivation, and study strategies that stick. But with a glue that makes the lessons a little "stickier" than the usual "study strategy" course: happiness. Looking for a bank of go-to lessons and tools you can use over the summer or for those moments when the hustle of the school year isn't filling your sessions? I've got you covered!

Teach students how to be happier while they reach their academic goals and have a little more fun while you're at it!

It's like my best hits album!

6 of my favorite lessons to get students moving in the direction of their bright potential, plus more to keep you inspired and supported.

  • Getting Started Guide

Super easy, enjoyable and effective methods to start your sessions with your student that you can use beyond the 6 lessons.

  • Lesson Extensions and "Skeleton Notes" for Students

Several fun ideas and links for extending and deepening the lessons with alternate activities and deeper dives. The student workbook includes fillable "skeleton notes," a proven way for students to engage in learning new material and to better retain it, too. 3 Appendices at the end give you more places to go to extend and inspire learning.

  • Hands-On Student Centered Lessons

The 6 lessons use "teacher as coach, student as worker" philosophy, meaning, they are actively involved in creating and doing during the lesson for optimal engagement. Students will learn how to align specific, do-able habits with meaningful goals, declutter and replace automatic negative thoughts to get unstuck from negative behavior loops, and how to read and study with less boredom and more engagement.

Hi! I'm Tricia.

I teach and write about how to help teenage students be happier and more successful one small action at a time. I am an academic well being coach and have been a high school teacher and learning specialist for over 20 years. I help students build executive functioning and study skills to succeed in school, but with a twist that helps those strategies to stick: happiness. I use a tiny habits* and hands-on approach to some of their big, abstract issues like time management, organization, procrastination, emotional regulation, and how to learn and study. All of my approaches come from research and ample evidence in my own practice, but the students don't really care about that. They just like that it makes school work seem less daunting and that they feel better about the whole thing.
